History

History

Olympic Peninsula Title’s story begins back in the 1920s when Brumfield Abstract Company began compiling and maintaining a geographical index for abstracting purposes. In the 1940s, Brumfield Abstract Company became Brumfield Davis and began to offer title insurance and escrow services. Transamerica Title Insurance Company purchased the company in 1974 and Chris Zook moved to Port Angeles to manage the operation. During the next eight years, he expanded the operation, including opening the first title and escrow office in Sequim to serve the newly organized Sequim Board of Realtors.

In 1982, Chris and his wife Sue purchased the Clallam county operations from Transamerica Title Insurance Company and named the new company Olympic Peninsula Title. They focused their efforts on providing outstanding service to the customers, promoting education and professional growth within the staff and giving back to the communities where we work and live. Olympic Peninsula Title has grown and prospered in large part due to the solid values embraced by the Zook family and all of our employees.

  1. Do the right thing, even if it isn’t the easy thing
  2. Family first, always
  3. Lead by example
  4. Deliver what you promise
  5. Have fun and smile every day

In 2005, Chris and Sue’s daughter, Maureen Pfaff, joined the company as CFO and took over day to day management of operations in 2006. In 2012, Maureen expanded the business to include a contract collections department providing loan servicing to private lenders. The contract collections department is now serving clients in Clallam, Jefferson and Mason counties and beyond. Maureen’s husband Jason joined the company in 2013 bringing with him 20 years of experience in land development in Clallam county. In 2017, Maureen became President and CEO of the company. Chris remains active in the business as Chairman of the Board.

Over the last 36 years, Olympic Peninsula Title has grown from 6 employees to 26 and 5 of our employees have been with the company for over 25 years. Our mission is to make the closing process a smooth one and as easy as possible for all parties involved and we have the depth of experience to make that happen. The client is always our first priority. If you are buying, selling or refinancing a residential home, investment property, commercial building or vacant land, opt for Olympic Peninsula Title and our team will ensure the closing process is handled in a secure, swift and professional manner.
